This place holds great historical significance and is full of many religious sites. Situated on the banks of river Phalgu, this place is considered sacred by the Hindus, Jains and Buddhists. The place is full of Jain temples and also happens to have the nearest airport for reaching Pawapuri, a Jain pilgrimage.
Gaya holds importance in Buddhism as it is considered a place where Lord Buddha got enlightened. Buddhist as well because on the Brahmayoni hill Buddha had preached the popular Fire Sermon (AdittapariyayaSutta) to a large number of fire-worshiping ascetics.

Weekend Getaways Near Siwan

For Hindus the place is sacred as for they believe they need to pray for the souls of their ancestors here. They perform a ritual called ‘PindDaan’. You can visit all of these religious places and seek blessings. Apart from these you can visit the the Prestshila Hills in Gaya where you can enjoy the tranquility and serenity of the natural surroundings. It takes about five hours to reach Gaya from Siwan. You can either opt for roadways or railways to reach this very famous destinations from Siwan.

Buxar is quite close to Siwan and is a beautiful city. You can visit the various tourist attractions in Buxar which include the popular Buxar Fort, temple of Devi Ahalya, Sita Ram Upadhyaya Museum, Bihariji Temple and many more. The historical city it has everthing to bring smile on your face. Just in few days you will feel elated by visiting various beautiful locations spread across the city. It takes about 3 hours to reach Buxar from Siwan. Apart from State buses there are many private operators running luxury buses. Further numerous passenger and express train connects Siwan to Buxar.

Rajgir near Siwan

Rajgir is located in a valley surrounded by seven hills apart from being a popular tourist destination. This place is known for its hot water spring (gysers) which made it a winter resort for the tourists. One of the 80 peace pagodas in the world, Vishwa Shanti stupa, is situated in Rajgir. Spreading the message of peace and non-violence, the Vulture’s Peak is also quite nearby. This mountain is considered holy by the Buddhists. You can enjoy at the different tourist spots in Rajgir in a trip of 2-3 days. It takes about five hours to reach Rajgir from Siwan.

All of the three place are well connected by roads, rail and airways. The best way would be to travel via railways as it would be cheaper and save your time as well. You can choose any of the three getaways near Siwan to have a great time during the weekend along with your family and friends.
